Spaceman …

… a crippled child plays alone in the darkness of his grandmother’s closet where he imagines he is his toy glow-in-the-dark spaceman with perfect legs, “hovering in flight far away in the black night of the universe,” where no one stares at him and no one knows of his disease. I’m proud that this short autobiographical piece was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

“Spaceman” appears in the award-winning anthology Fault Zone: Reverse.

… The Stone

… a woman returns to her farmhouse where she finds her husband lying dead on the kitchen floor. Alone, friendless, and ever disconnected from her rural world and her children, Beryl struggles to understand the true legacy Michael left her at the far end of the field.

“The Stone” appears in the award-winning anthology Fault Zone: Detachment.
