After earning a Master’s Degree in English Literature but deciding against a career in academia, I wondered, What does life have in store? My beloved Sandy suggested, “Tim, computers are the future.” I ended up spending much of my career at Stanford University in information systems management and mobile technology, as well as consulting, blogging, and speaking at conferences.

I always wondered if I might write one day. My first attempt at writing outside my career track was in 1999 with a memoir, Islands Apart: Chronicles of Family Healing. That experience made me hunger for more.

When I retired, I hitched a ride on that lifelong dream and began writing my first novel, The Flower of Canaan, which will appear (Addison & Highsmith) in 2025. Meanwhile, my autobiographical short story “Spaceman,” published in the anthology Fault Zone: Reverse in 2021, was nominated for a Pushcart prize. My short story “The Stone” appeared in Fault Zone: Detachment in December 2023.

I’m on the board of the San Francisco-Peninsula branch of the California Writers Club. I was recently presented with the Jack London Award for service to our writing community. I designed and created our club website). I’m a member of the Authors Guild and the Historical Novel Society.

Best and most of all, I’m still madly in love with my wife, Sandy Flood, and so proud of our sons, Mac and Jake.
